This typically involves beating up random people for their cash, and scouring trash barrels for bacon cheeseburgers. Starting from nothing, the humble Slum Dweller is willing to rise up and do whatever it takes to make it in this crazy world. Also no-brainers: Cheetos and not showering.Stereotypes. What Hacker worth their weight in salt doesn't want to take down the system? Joining the Resistance was a no-brainer for this societal outcast. Has ambitions of hacking the planet, but will realistically settle for your parents' webcam. The Gangster probably needs to have their vision checked. Actually, it wasn't a Blahd, it was just a crazed naked man driven insane from a nasty sunburn. Joined the Crepes after witnessing their father being murdered at the hands of a Blahd. Despite the extra cash flow, the Doctor would rather the streets be safe, and has decided to join the Resistance. But business is currently booming, what with all the beating being administered by Cops since the Mayor's new "Law of the Land" was put in place. Indeed, the Doctor is very skilled at 'pacifying' people. One of the few true pacifists in this dangerous world.
4 Playable Characters (Super Special Abilities). 3 Playable Characters (Character Pack DLC). If you're truly craving an action rogue-like/lite, I'd recommend something like Enter the Gungeon or Binding of Isaac instead. There are some choices, but the gameplay boils down to a basic twin-stick shooter, and an only average one at that. The game touts depth, but in reality is incredibly shallow. From the get-go, you are allowed access to many game modifiers to make the game easier or harder. The one thing I can say is actually really good about the game is its accessibility. Might as well walk through its line of sight to get it over with.Ĭombat is fine, though nothing special. Camera bugging you? Turns out, destroying it makes an audible alarm, which alerts enemies. Then you have to fight, which you would've done if you went through the front door anyways. Sure, you could sneak through a window, but you have to break it, and that alerts somebody. I have found that walking through the front door and doing what needs done is the way to go. Objectives are typically similar, but what about the approach you can take? The game does tote the ability to tackle objectives any way you see fit, so is that really accommodated? I don't think so. There is little variation in even the layout each time you play, which is incredibly disheartening given the rogue-lite approach. But maybe that isn't so bad if the levels are all fun and different, right? Sadly, the levels all feel the same. You're either retrieving an item, neutralizing someone, or blowing something up. The objectives themselves are incredibly bland and have little variation between levels. The game claims you can approach an objective in about any way you can think, within the confines of the game, and experiment.
It's hard to recommend Streets of Rogue, especially since it is marketed by its sandbox/decision-based objective approach.

Thomas isn't just an S-Tier pixel artist, but he's also been an S-Tier collaborator, and I'm ridiculously lucky to have him onboard. You may have seen his work in games like Songs of Conquest, Blasphemous, The Mummy Demastered, and Tower 57. All of SOR2's art has been created by Thomas "Cyangmou" Feichtmeir. While having a fancy new Steam page is nice, today's biggest piece of new content in the Streets of Rogue 2 info drip is the game's very first set of screenshots.
